BC COVID-19 stats continue to climb

One day after recording a new record daily case count, active cases and contacts of confirmed cases continue to grow throughout BC.

Today there are 1,688 active cases of COVID-19 in BC, 50 more than yesterday. There are 4,156 people under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases, an increase of more than 100 from yesterday.

“We have the ability to decide what our COVID-19 wave looks like in BC by continuing to take personal precautions and using our layers of protection, no matter where we may be,” said health officials in an update.

They also reported 167 new cases, including one that is epidemiologically linked, for a total of 11,854 in BC. There are 69 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 18 of whom are in intensive care. Sadly, there was one new virus-related death, for a total of 254 deaths in BC.

There were three new healthcare facility outbreaks announced, and three that were declared over. In total, 17 longterm care or assisted living facilities and two acute care facilities have active outbreaks.
