Canadian budget airline Flair Airlines announced that on Dec. 15 they will launch flights from Vancouver to Kelowna and Edmonton while their flights from Edmonton will also connect with their flight to Toronto.

Initially flying four times per week, the airline hopes to grow their service as ridership rises.

“With (YVR’s) vision to serve 25 million passengers by 2020, we are pleased to welcome another new airline partner with Flair Airlines launching scheduled service at YVR this winter,” said Craig Richmond, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “Vancouverites will be thrilled to have additional options to get to Kelowna, Edmonton and Toronto just in time for the busy holiday season.”

The airline, started in 2005, is based in Kelowna. Last year, Flair flew over 376,600 passengers on over 3,090 flights.

Flying Boeing 737-400 aircraft on these routes, with a seat capacity for 156 passengers, Flair hopes to grow their service, says Chris Lapointe, Vice President, Commercial Operations.

“Flair Airlines is thrilled to be announcing service to Vancouver International Airport," Lapointe said. "YVR is a true gateway airport that connects people to the rest of the world and we believe this is an important addition to our route network.”
