Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has declared the COVID-19 outbreaks over at Richmond Hospital and Richmond Lions Manor-Bridgeport care home.

The hospital outbreak was declared May 21 and affected the acute care for the elderly unit. A total of 13 people, including two staff members, tested positive for COVID-19 during the outbreak. The hospital is fully open for admissions and people requiring emergency or urgent care should not delay seeking care. Richmond Hospital continues to be restricted to essential visits, which includes visitors providing compassionate care, physical care and mental well-being to patients.

The outbreak at Richmond Lions Manor-Bridgeport care home, which was declared May 28, affected a total of five people including two staff members. The home is now open to new admissions and transfers and is working to resume all group activities and visitation. Ongoing infection prevention and control protocols are in place to protect residents and staff.

Between the two outbreaks, three people have died, one of whom was a resident at Richmond Lions Manor. VCH shares its heartfelt condolences with the families, friends and loved ones impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak at Richmond Lions Manor-Bridgeport and Richmond Hospital.
