Richmond Devils win bronze

The Richmond Devil’s entered the South Coast Women’s Hockey League championships seeded sixth. 

The Devils began their tournament with a 1-0 victory over the Kamloops Vibe, followed by a 2-2 tie against the Meadow Ridge Moose. 

Heading into the semifinal round they played the Fraser Valley Jets, who had bested the South Fraser TNT by a score of 6-0. 

The Devils started off the game on fire with forward Emily Chau scoring the first goal of the game. Fraser Valley quickly countered scoring two goals of their own. The Devils’ Laura Horwood would quickly tie the game nine minutes into the second period. 

Heading into the third period tied, the Devils continued to battle it out with the Jets before they would concede a third goal at the 4:52 mark. 

Following their defeat in the semifinal game, the Devils would face-off against a familiar foe in the Meadow Ridge Moose in the bronze medal game. The game started off in a stalemate with both teams unable to score in the first period. In the second period, forward Laura Horwood would break the tie giving the Devils a 1-0 lead, ten minutes later defensemen Amy Vanden Eynde would add to the lead to make it 2-0. The Meadow Ridge Moose would score in the third period but the Devils would prevent any comeback and win a bronze medal.
