RCMP is seeking dash cam footage for vehicle involved in near miss with Richmond RCMP officer

Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit seeking dash cam footage for a vehicle involved in a near miss with Richmond RCMP officer.

On May 19, 2024 Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit (RSU) were conducting targeted enforcement on Highway 91 in the area of Knight Street Bridge. An officer with Richmond RCMP RSU was conducting speed enforcement with a laser gun when he observed a vehicle allegedly travelling 145 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone. The officer was on foot and attempted to stop the vehicle, however, it did not stop resulting in the officer having to dive to the side of the road to avoid being struck.

Fortunately, our officer was not seriously injured but this type of driving behaviour puts all road users at risk, says Sergeant Eric Baskette, Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit, We are asking anyone who was in the area of Highway 91 by Knight Street between 8:40 and 9:10 a.m. to review their dash cam footage for this incident.

Richmond RCMP RSU are looking for dash cam footage of a Black sedan with a broken passenger side mirror. It was last seen traveling Eastbound on Highway 91.
