Pink has come to symbolize taking a stand against bullying.
And on Feb. 26, Pink Shirt Day, it’s your chance to help eradicate bullying and instead help to build self-esteem.
The movement started in 2007 in Nova Scotia. Two high school boys led a large group of students to wear pink to support another boy, who had recently been bullied for wearing the colour.
Now a worldwide movement, people everywhere are encouraged to wear pink on Feb. 26 to show that bullying is unacceptable and intolerable.
This year’s focus is “lift each other up.” The Pink Shirt Day movement raises funds to help kids affected by bullying. In total, since 2008, they have raised over $2.3 million for anti-bullying programs.
