Richmond residents are invited to explore the range of community-based employment programs and services at Employment Connections: Programs and Supports for Jobseekers. The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Brighouse Library, located inside the Richmond Cultural Centre (7700 Minoru Gate).

Employment Connections is a free, drop-in event that aims to connect jobseekers with community organizations that assist people in search of a job or seeking to change their employment situation. It is a resource fair that will feature 15 community organizations that provide a wide range of employment-related supports and services. These organizations will be on-site to answer questions and help jobseekers access programs that assist with job searching, gaining work or volunteer experience, and opportunities for upskilling and training. Additionally, provincial and federal programs that help connect individuals to government benefits, such as the Canada Workers Benefit, will be at the event. The goal of the event is to help Richmond jobseekers learn about and access community-based employment support programs, it is not a job fair.

Employment Connections is a joint initiative involving a diverse group of Richmond-based organizations, the City of Richmond and Richmond Public Library, all committed to working together to reduce and prevent poverty in Richmond.

Community members are encouraged to drop in at any time during the event; no registration is required.
