Richmond Mounties have arrested a suspect they believe is behind a rash of parcel thefts from the doorsteps of local homes that occurred in March and April of this year.

In April, a local homeowner on Lackner Crescent captured security video footage of a man on a bike stealing a parcel from their doorstep.

Following an extensive investigation by Richmond RCMP’s property crime unit, police identified a suspect that investigators were able to connect with similar crimes.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved five charges against Dana Adam Halifax, 40, of no fixed address. He is charged with three mail-theft related charges, as well as parcel theft and one count of mischief.

“Mail theft is a problem that we take very seriously,” said RCMP Sgt. Simon Lee.
