Calling all young princes and princesses. It is time to dust off your most elegant garb and get your royal vibe on at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Annual Tea Party.

The event offers youngsters and their favourite adult a chance to relish the tasteful opulence of high tea, Friday, July 20, while helping other children and their families. Proceeds from the tickets support Canuck Place and YVR Kids.

Complementary parking is included in the event. When the young guests pull up, they will walk to their high tea along a red carpet. Upon arrival a tiara or crown is bestowed upon each young head as they enter.

At the tea, professional actors from Pacific Fairy Tales who transform into princesses in real silk and satin ball gowns, will mingle with the young guests after they have dined on regal treats and finger food such as sandwiches of grilled cheese, peanut butter and jelly, egg salad, and ham, because while they are elegant, the Fairmont Vancouver Airport recognizes they are still children.

To cater to their tastes, the tea features a caramel popcorn bar, a cotton candy macaron, milk chocolate fudge candy apples, birthday cake cupcakes and, to really cap it off, a jumbo dirt and worm lollipop.

With fairy dust for making wishes and photo booths, the children will make memories they can take home and treasure.

Canuck Place is Canada's first free-standing children's hospice, providing pediatric palliative care to children and their families across B.C.

Last year, with help from the community, Canuck Place was able to help thousands of seriously-ill children and their families through their residential care, camps, as well as in-home and in-hospital counselling to mention only a few of the services offered.

YVR Kids supports 12 charities aimed at improving the lives of children.

Priced at $99 for adults and $49 for children aged 12 and under, there are still a few tickets available for the tea party, which is from 1 to 4 p.m.
