As the novel coronavirus continues to rear its ugly head around the globe, trying to stay one step ahead is an epic challenge.

But it’s one we must endure in order to get through the pandemic and ultimately overcome the virus.

With the importance of maintaining a healthy immune system having never been greater, support for non-profit community-based athletic clubs like the Richmond Kajaks is also at a critical point. For these groups to maintain existing programs, and indeed to survive long term, they also need your financial assistance.

To help the club forward, the Kajaks are hosting a 50/50 online raffle that goes live today (Nov. 2) online.

The raffle continues through Nov. 26. Draw date is Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.

The pandemic effectively cancelled one of the Kajaks’ biggest annual fundraisers, the BC Elementary Track and Field Championships. And the loss of other revenue that the spring and summer provides the club, and the realization that next year’s Steveston Icebreaker 8K may also be cancelled, is causing further concern.

“It is our hope that this event will help us get back to financial stability, and provide us with the means to upgrade our programs, provide athlete development opportunities, and propel our club forward in 2021 and help build on the 60 years of history the Kajaks has led,” says head coach Garrett Collier.
