COVID-19 hospitalizations trending downwards in B.C.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 are declining in B.C.
In just over a week, the number of COVID-related hospitalizations has decreased by 50 to 257—the lowest total since Nov. 20.
They also announced 465 new cases, including three that are epidemiologically linked, for a total of 69,245 cases in British Columbia since the pandemic began.
Of the new cases, 98 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 234 in the Fraser Health region, 27 in the Island Health region, 54 in the Interior Health region and 52 in the Northern Health region.
There are 4,447 active cases and 6,943 people are under active public health monitoring. Sadly, there have been six new virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours.
To date, 145,567 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C.
There was one new healthcare facility outbreak announced, and one was declared over. There remain 24 active outbreaks in long-term care or assisted living facilities and nine in acute care facilities.
"As we make plans for the weekend ahead, let's ensure we don't make the Super Bowl a superspreading day, by making safe choices,” said health officials in a statement. “This is especially important given we are still learning about the full impact of the variants of concern now in our communities.
