B.C. reports 29 new COVID-19 cases

B.C. health authorities reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 today, for a total of 147,578 cases in the province since the pandemic began.
The 29 new cases are the lowest single-day number since early August 2020.
Of the new cases, seven are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), seven in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, 10 in the Interior Health region and two new cases of people who reside outside of Canada. There are no new cases in the Northern Health region
There are 876 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 110 of those people are hospitalized, 34 of whom are in intensive care.
To date, 4,941,795 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 1,368,464 of those are second doses.
This means that 78.3 per cent of all adults in B.C. and 77 per cent of those aged 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 31.6 per cent of adults and 29.5 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received their second dose.
There were no new virus-related deaths reported today.
Active outbreaks continue at five long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities—including Richmond’s Minoru Residence—and two acute care facilities.
