B.C. reports COVID-19 data from April 3 to 9

In the past week (April 3 to 9) there were 1,770 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 359,002 since the pandemic began.
Of the new cases, 307 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 511 in the Fraser Health region, 322 in the Island Health region, 523 in the Interior Health region, and 107 in the Northern Health region.
As of today, there are 364 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 36 of whom are in critical care.
There were 233 new hospital admissions in the past week (April 3 to 9). Of those, 43 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 108 in the Fraser Health region, 34 in the Island Health region, 34 in the Interior Health region, and 14 in the Northern Health region.
The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 23 deaths between April 3 and 9.
Of those who died, two lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, six in the Fraser Health region, seven in the Island Health region, eight in the Interior Health region, and none in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.
The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (March 27 to April 2) increased to 20 from the 11 originally reported last week.
Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 28 cases in Richmond last week (April 3 to 9), down from 46 the previous week (March 27 to April 2).
