The Richmond Community Foundation is participating in the new Community Prosperity Fund, for which applications are now open.

The Community Prosperity Fund is a $25 million investment from the Government of BC that advances poverty reduction and social inclusion in local communities. The Government of BC recognizes that non-profits are vital to people and communities in BC. They are important partners, often providing services to those made vulnerable in all corners of British Columbia. The Community Prosperity Fund will drive positive change in Richmond.

Announced on the inaugural BC Non-Profit Day, the Community Prosperity Fund is a unique funding structure that allows communities and organizations to decide how they use the funding. The Richmond Community Foundation will ensure applications are reviewed at the local level.

The Community Prosperity Fund also responds to what the community needs by creating space to implement the funding over up to three years and supporting both operational expenses and project delivery funding. This makes sure that non-profits can decide what would most benefit them and their communities.

“The Community Prosperity Fund will be immensely beneficial for charities, non-profits, and Indigenous-serving organizations," says Ed Gavsie, executive director of the Richmond Community Foundation.

"We know these organizations improve our communities by advancing poverty reduction and social inclusion. In Richmond, this type of funding is essential, allowing our community to grow in a way that fosters connection and a sense of belonging among all residents."

Applications for the Community Prosperity Fund can be submitted until June 24, 2024. Charities, non-profit organizations, and Indigenous-serving organizations whose work advances poverty reduction and social inclusion in local communities are encouraged to apply.

Visit the Vancouver Foundation’s website for the application guide and application portal.

Founded in 1990, the Richmond Community Foundation manages over 60 forever funds, from which it awards grants and scholarships to local non-profit organizations and students. richmondfoundation.org
