United Way of the Lower Mainland is launching a campaign this week to encourage one million people to engage in acts of local love across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley by 2025.

To help whet your appetite, United Way is teaming up with Vancouver-based artisan popsicle maker Johnny’s Pops. Keep your eyes open for a special cart to ‘pop’ up in Steveston on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at 3820 Bayview St. Lucky passers-by can enjoy one of Johnny’s Pops two popsicles made with B.C. strawberries or raspberries.

“This is local love in action, which is all about making our communities better,” explains Michael Mcknight, president and chief executive officer of United Way of the Lower Mainland. “It can be as small as surprising a neighbour with a treat, or as big as mobilizing thousands to help the most vulnerable people in our communities. Everyone can benefit from an act of local love.”

Popsicle lovers are encouraged to follow United Way of the Lower Mainland on Twitter and Instagram to track the cart in their neighbourhood, and to share the local love using #actsoflocallove.
